The fuzzy stem was there and now it is being enclosed into the leaf. Jim says that because I haven't had it in a humid area before, but then we have been here for almost two years now. Can you tell from the first photo to the second how the leaf is enclosing the "cob" more fully?

If anyone knows what this means, will you let me know? Thanks.

Yes, I have a messy plant area especially around the begonias.
I was trying out the flash and non-flash on this caterpillar. The picture lighter in color is without the flash and the darker green picture is with the flash.

Jim was mowing and weed-eating the lawn when I got home today. This little caterpillar was in the grass where he was going to weedwhack. I moved him to the upstart tree. In the picture with the flash, you can see all the caterpillar's little hairy parts. This was taken with the macro lens.
They are my just about favorite house plant. This begonia came from a start I got from Catherine about four years ago. It bloomed once in Idaho Falls and has bloomed three times since coming to Virginia. It must like the West facing window here better than the East facing window in IF. It always facinates me to watch how this begonia grows. It almost looks like a jungle in this picture, doesn't it?Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03487692501279440007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4837096559912310522.post-66250120471950136972010-04-27T18:29:00.000-07:002010-04-27T18:29:08.716-07:00Colorful Greetings

These two plants are what I see as I leave the Distribution Center every night right now. The purple, red, green and white just make me happy. This was another picture taken with the macro lens, I think. Just look at all the textures in this picture, at least I think there are textures there. I really do need to learn all the names of the plants around the Temple.Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03487692501279440007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4837096559912310522.post-28543936181893715572010-04-26T12:07:00.000-07:002010-04-26T12:07:27.601-07:00Greens and Reds

This plant greets me everyday while walking into the Distribution Center, if I go in thru the outside enterance. It also brings me lots of color as I leave for the day. I think it is a Japanese maple, but I am not sure. I really like the colors though. This was taken with the Macro lens. I am experimenting with the settings on my little Canon.
The clouds were soooooo dark and the Temple so white. You can even see all six spires, if you look hard enough. I was even able to get the picture with no cars in it and that was hard to do, because there were quite a few cars in the parking lot.
I have enjoyed taking pictures and I like to share. I don't know how good they are, but I like them. I hope that you will like them also.

This picture was taken on Friday morning on my way into work. The sun was shining brightly, glowing off the Temple spirers and the dogwood was so pretty in bloom. All three combined to make a picture I really like.
