I have never seen what looks like a corn cob on my Dieffenbachia maculata before. The fuzzy stem was there and now it is being enclosed into the leaf. Jim says that because I haven't had it in a humid area before, but then we have been here for almost two years now. Can you tell from the first photo to the second how the leaf is enclosing the "cob" more fully?
If anyone knows what this means, will you let me know? Thanks.
Yes, I have a messy plant area especially around the begonias.
Make it a great day!

Caterpiller Found
These are two pictures taken only minutes apart. I was trying out the flash and non-flash on this caterpillar. The picture lighter in color is without the flash and the darker green picture is with the flash.
Jim was mowing and weed-eating the lawn when I got home today. This little caterpillar was in the grass where he was going to weedwhack. I moved him to the upstart tree. In the picture with the flash, you can see all the caterpillar's little hairy parts. This was taken with the macro lens.
